Tankless Water Heaters

Advantages

• Provides hot water instantly and for as long as you need it.
• Uses 50-70% less energy than a conventional (tank) water heater.
• Stores only cold water (while heating, the hot water only goes out), eliminating risk of bacteria growth.
• Lasts twice as long as other water heaters. Designed and built to last 20 years.
• Tankless water heaters are much smaller than the conventional ones.

Disadvantages

• Can be up to three times as expensive as a tank heater.
• More susceptible to cold weather, i.e. freezing temps.

Tank(Conventional) Water Heaters

Advantages

• Cheaper than a tankless version.
• Easier to replace parts and find people to service.

Disadvantages

• Can run out of hot water depending on usage in the house.
• Has an average lifetime of only 2-9 years.
• Efficiency declines as the unit gets older due to build up.
• Gas runs all the time in order to keep water hot and this can get expensive.

 

Why Rinnai?

A custom-designed pump maintains constant flow during operation, while a priority system temporarily shuts down the air handler during periods of high hot water demand, preventing the unit from blowing cold air.
